Initial Sketches and Drawings
We had gone through initial brainstorming sessions of all our ideas, each slightly different from our final product. Although many iterations were made along the way, our original big picture of a two-stage game consisting of turning household appliances off and "generating" renewable energy has remained constant.

Final Design CAD ModelOn the left we have a slideshow of our final mechanical design along with highlighted critical areas. These were crucial for understanding the placement of components, especially since our playing field was crowded with several features. Moving components such as the trap door and the stamping mechanism were effectively planned out by modeling their movement and dimensions in SolidWorks.
Below are the dimensions of our TREE. We made sure that the dimensions were within the limit of the 36''x18''x18'' volume, and took into consideration the limited space of our playing field for our moving components. |

Blender
The blender was fabricated by incorporating a micro-vibration motor inside a loosely fixed 3D printed part. As the motor vibrated, the loose fixture created a shaking effect of the top area of the blender. This effect also allowed for haptic feedback from the vibrations when the user is turning the blender off.

TV, Lamp, and Fan
|
The TV, lamp, and Fan are all controlled with simple switches, debounced in hardware instead of software to preserve the number of timers available.
The TV is implemented with an LED backlight and a liquid crystal light valve that blocks or shows light with 5V. The lamp's pull-switch is created by attaching a necklace chain to a microswitch to create a hefty pull. The Fan switch is simply placed in the stand. |
